IDFPR has just announced on their website that there is a new procedure for submitting Firearm Control Card (FCC) applications for those guards that are intended to be posted on sites at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) this August. IDFPR has created a new cover form for submission of up to 50 FCC applications at a time that can be found at https://idfpr.illinois.gov/profs/securitycont.html. Agencies will be able to write one check for these up to 50 submissions. There is no mention of how long it will take to process these applications but since the convention is less than seven weeks away, one can only presume that these applications will be processed on an expedited basis. It would be a major national embarrassment to the Governor if this new procedure not only did not work but did not work well. In short, instead of sending in singular applications and writing multiple checks, now all one must do is attach a new cover page for up to 50 applications at a time and send it in with one check attached. These applications with a cover sheet will be diverted for special expedited processing.
Note that there is a vague certification under penalty of perjury at the bottom of the new FCC cover form that is there presumably to keep agencies from using this form to obtain expedited FCC licenses for guards that will not be assigned to the DNC. Accordingly, agencies should exercise caution before they attempt to game the system. Finally, the Department lists their general call center number (800-560-5420) to call if any issues arise but as anyone can tell you who has called that number in the past with a problem, good luck with that.
