The Private Security Contractor licensing exam is offered twice a year, every September and March, by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
The next examination is scheduled for March 05, 2025. The deadline for submitting your application to Continental Testing Services is January 22, 2025. However, it is strongly recommended that you get your application into Continental Testing Services sooner than the deadline.

The following experience will count toward the Private Security Contractor eligibility requirement:
If you clearly meet the eligibility requirements, complete and pay for the online application with Continental Testing Services. Then, register for our exam prep seminar below.
We offer a formal, 8-hour study-review session. The review class will be held remotely and a Zoom invitation will be sent to you. You must have a good internet connection to participate in the live video conference, which will consist of lecture and PowerPoint slides.
The Zoom presentation will focus on basic core areas of the examination, a review of the textbooks for each profession, and will highlight those areas previously tested. Course materials will include a study-guide outline covering the U.S. and Illinois Constitutions, the Illinois Criminal Code and the Illinois Private Detective, Private Alarm, Private Security, Fingerprint Vendor and Locksmith Act and Rules.

It is possible for a person to take both the Private Detective and Private Security Contractor examinations at the same time, providing that you qualify for both licenses.
However, if you are going to take a combo exam, you MUST apply for both license examinations separately. In other words, although you will be taking only one examination, you MUST fill out and timely submit each application separately and pay both separate license examination fees to Continental Testing Services.
We offer an option to take both the Private Detective and Private Security Contractor Exam Prep Seminars together at a significant discount. The dates for the seminars are the same.
We have been providing Private Detective (PD) and Private Security Contractor (PSC) license examination preparation seminars for 31 years and have had over 1,550 successful PD and PSC applicants pass the examination.
Although we cannot guarantee that any one individual will pass the examination on his/her first attempt, we do guarantee that anyone who takes our seminar and does not pass will be allowed to retake the seminar continuously as many times as necessary without charge until he/she passes provided they do not miss more than two review sessions in a row.
We will also provide additional one-on-one tutoring to those in need of additional help at no cost in order to ensure that those who take our class have the best possible chance of passing this exam.
